In a period of economic crisis good news
are twice good. And twice important. They give
hope and courage. The success of
Kapsch CarrierCom within the last
18 months is such good news.
In Belarus, FEVelcom, amember of
the mobilkom austria group, has
placed an order with KCC for designing
and implementing itsMPLS
IP backbone network. After the
first successful implementation of
theMPLS backbone forMobiltel in
Bulgaria, this is the second MPLS
network within the mobilkom austria
group which KCC has implemented.
KCC received the first DWDM order
from the alternative provider,
Optima Telecom in Croatia. They
will build their fibre network with
ECI’s DWDM switches and have
placed the order for implementation
of the first link betweenZagreb
and Botova with us. This order
strengthens the competence of our
Croatian branch in the transmission
sector.
April 2008
mobilkom austria’s “Next Generation
IN“ project was successfully
completed on April, 24th after
achieving the “Final Acceptance“
milestone.
Also in April, the first UMTS base
station in Linz was reconnected
fromthe existing “legacy R99” system
to the new “3GPP Release 4”
system. With this, the pilot phase,
where the systemis tested under live
conditions, began.There are 35 000
mobile end-users on the network as
of the end of April.
FIT (Future IVR Technology)
Framework and Service Lines for
the mobilkom austria group
KCC received the order for the implementation
of the new IVR infrastructure
for the FIT(Future IVR
technology) project from the mobilkomaustria
group. With thewin
of two tenders (RFP FIT Framework
and RFP FIT Services Lines
between April and October 2008),
KCC together with its partners SemanticEdge
and VoiceBusiness will
implement a call center pre-selection
solution with DTMF dialogues,
directed dialogues and natural
language understanding. This
pilot project will go live at mobilkom
austria by end of 2009.

since January 2008.
January 2008
After weeks of acceptance testing
by Telekom Austria and an intensive
verification office (VO) phase,
the last node of Telekom Austria’s
network was successfully migrated
to the new OES software release
AR51.
We received an excellent grading for
the maintenance in 2007 by
Telekom Austria. The analysis of
the supplier survey resulted in a perfect
100% score in the following
categories: technical timeliness and
completeness, technical flexibility,
technical documentation, technical
willingness to provide information,
technical administrative correctness,
adherence to security requirements
and quality processes. We also received
a 100% score for the quality
of the final product. For the project
assessment of the host installation
and installation of two NVSt
Klagenfurt Liu7s, we received a perfect
100% score in all categories.
February 2008
In February, Kapsch CarrierCom
established a subsidiary in Serbia.
With this office in Serbia, the company
can strengthen its activities on
the regionalmarket. The new presence
in Beograd is a further location
in addition to Sofia and Zagreb,
which was recently established by
Kapsch.

The award for the third GSM-R expansion
step with a value of Euro
13Million (Kapsch Prague), specifically
Euro 2.7 Million (KCC) was
made on March 11th, 2009.
ÖBB has awarded Kapsch Carrier-
Com AG the “Unterinntaltunnel“
wireless communication system
tender. The order value is Euro 1.9
Million. The main KCC partners
are Alpine Energie (cable assembly),
as well as Axel Wireless. The
system handover will take place in
September 2009.

Networks implement aMultimedia
Core Solution for the mobilkom
austria group
Themobilkomaustria group is taking
the next technological step.
Kapsch CarrierCom, the implementation
partner, together with
Starent Networks will equip the
mobilkom austria group’s European-
wide networkwith 3G/UMTS
and 4G/LTEmobile broadband services.
The high transmission rates
of these new technologies enable a
multitude of innovativemultimedia
services.
Kapsch CarrierCom continues to
expand in Eastern Europe: Kapsch
opens a subsidiary in Belarus.
Kapsch CarrierCom AG continues
to expand in 2009 despite the difficult
economic climate. The company
extends its reach in the Eastern
European growth markets.
Si.mobil:HLRmigration successful
Si.mobil subscribermigration to the
new KCC / Nortel HLR took place
at the end of March and was successfully
completed.
KapschCarrierComwas selected as
supplier forTA´s advancedVoIP solution
(AIPS)
This major order is based on Nortel’s
Communication Server (CS)
2000 and allows Telekom Austria
to seamlessly migrate end-users’
voice services to IP. The local KCC

The Siemens HLR at Si.mobil will
be replaced. The Slovenian mobilkom
subsidiary Si.mobil decided
to migrate their mobile subscribers
onto the existing mobilkom austria
aTCA HLRs.
With the establishment of a new
subsidiary in Ljubljana in May,
Kapsch has successfully pursued its
SEE expansion strategy. Following
themarket entry into Serbia, the activities
in Slovenia will be intensified
using the subsidiary in Slovenia.
June 2008
KCCsuccessfully completed the implementation
of theNGINsolution
for the Macedonian operator “Vip
operator“ in the beginning of June.
In cooperation with Mobiltel Bulgaria,
the first NGIN hosting solution
in the mobilkom austria group
went live on their jNetX platform.
July 2008
Wels-Passau: this is digital communication
on the railway. Kapsch
CarrierCom implemented the first
GSM-R route in Austria for the
ÖBB in July 2008. Kapsch Carrier-
ComAG completed the first part of
the approximately Euro 40Million
and 3500km order on time.
September 2008
KapschCarrierComwon a large order
in Hungary. In co-operation
with jNetX, an innovative Service
Delivery Platform (SDP) was implemented
for Magyar Telekom
(MT). This platform enables Hungarian’s
largest fixed network
provider to develop their ownNext
Generation (NG) applications in
the future.
R4 Final Acceptance was achieved.
After a successful verification phase
of the R4 pilot system, the final acceptance
was achieved on September
29th, 2008
A further jNetX IN system in the
mobilkom austria group at Si.mobil
goes live!
In a common project with mobilkom
austria and Si.mobil, KCC
succeeded in replacing the existing
Siemens IN system in SLOVENIA
and to replace it with a jNetX system.
October 2008
Kapsch CarrierComawarded a further
order fromÖBB:ÖBB Bau AG
placed an order with Kapsch CarrierCom
AG for the implementation
of digital systems in the Lainz tunnel
and in the Purkersdorf switch
hall. The order volume is Euro 1.3
Million.
November 2008
A project team consisting of research,
industry and media revolutionizes
the search for videos on
mobile phones. By using voice
recognition technology, it is possible
to immediately find all available
on-demand ORF programs in
which a desired term is mentioned.
As part of a K net program, a solution
calledMamtamwas developed
under the leadership of the Technical
University ofGraz. Kapsch CarrierCom
as the general contractor,
together with the ORF Online Directorate
and mobilkom austria
will implement this trial.
